The McKinney-Ellis Clan has as its symbol an Ashanti Stool, used by the Ashanti people in Ghana, West Africa (formerly the Gold Coast) to whom the family traces it’s ancestry. The grandfather of Rev. George Patterson, Sr. was a member of Ashanti tribe.
